I'm a mother of 9 wonderful children, I flourish and thrive on having a big loving and supportive family, and I am somewhat addicted to the ultimate euphoria and triumph of birth. I am passionate about educating women on how incredible they are and the amazing things their bodies are capable of. I have a natural calming, nurturing, and peaceful nature with a strong sense of empathy, compassion and a protective spirit, so I have always been drawn towards helping and caring for people. As a mother myself, I engage with many families and often women often reach out to me trusting that I can relate to their lives, how they may be feeling, and share their birth experiences and mothering stories with me.
I am always intrigued and love listening to women’s birthing stories, however I have noticed a trend that woman talk mostly about their traumatic pregnancies, labours, and births. Many women are experiencing a lack of physical, emotional, and informational support which has led to medical interventions during their labours and post-natal depression. 6 out of 9 of my births were very positive experiences with amazing care from some outstanding midwives and my supportive husband. My traumatic birth experiences have ignited a passion in me to strive to help mothers advocate for themselves and create their own positive woman centred births.
I hold a Birth and Postnatal Doula Certification with the Doula Academy of Australia, I also have a Blue Card, Police Check, Certificate in First Aid with CPR, doula insurance, and i'm also a member of Doula Network Australia.
I am enthusiastic to share my knowledge with other woman about how they can be informed, prepared, loved, respected, valued and supported during their journey into motherhood. It is my passion and goal to empower women to give birth without fear and to give them the confidence to trust their own bodies to give birth. I want women to know the peace, and joy that comes with having a doula beside them, providing support with every decision they make to have their birth, their way.
